Shalom Institute

Shalom Institute is a training institution established and run by Koinonia, a lay Christian Community inspired by the life of the first Christians as reported in the Acts of the Apostles.
                                                                 
Beginning in September 2008, the Institute will offer high quality training in courses that are both academic and professional in nature, mainly targeting high school leavers and professionals looking to keep abreast of the latest developments in their areas of expertise.

Courses
Shalom Institute will offer certificate and diploma courses in the following fields:
  • Media and Communication  Studies
  • Counselling Psychology
  • Peace Building and Reconciliation
  • Project Management
  • Social Work

… and many others to be announced in due course…


Location
The courses will be offered at the Institute’s campus located at Shalom House, a premises located along St Daniel Comboni Road (off Ngong Road), Nairobi. The campus has 5 halls, each with a capacity to hold at least 40 students and several tutorial rooms with a capacity for at least 15 students. The students will have access to a library with ample reading space and research facilities, a cyber cafe, and can have their meals at the Baraza cafe within Shalom House

About the Koinonia Community

The Koinonia Community, which runs Shalom Institute, is a regional body registered in Kenya as a corporate body since 1996. The Community is involved in various social activities and projects that support the growth of local grassroots societies, giving priority to such marginalized groups as children, women and young people from poor backgrounds. It also runs social empowerment projects in Lusaka, Zambia, and in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan
